KAMLOOPS — Time is running out for interested participants to register for the 2026 55+ BC Games in Kamloops.

Organizers say participant registration closes Tuesday June 30, with the games set to run between Sept. 8 and 12. More information on registration can be found here.

Registration is a three step process as participants are asked to create an account, then buy a yearly $20 membership, and finally register as a participant for the 2026 55+ BC Games. At that final step, participants will have to select their sport and event(s), and pay a $100 registration fee and sport fee.

“Please make sure you have completed all three steps as registration isn’t complete unless you have completed your online payment twice (once for your membership and for participant registration),” a statement from organizers said, noting participants on teams have to register individually.

Organizers note capacity has been reached for hockey, meaning no new teams can be registered. However, registration is still open to fill existing team rosters.

They also add badminton, horseshoes, mountain bike racing, men’s slo pitch and walking soccer have all been cancelled due to low registration numbers. There will still be eight-a-side and 11-a-side soccer and women’s slo pitch, meaning 25 of 28 sports and activities are still scheduled to be held.

Supporter registration for the 2026 55+ BC Games has not yet opened, but instructions can be found here. Supporter registration will reopen open until the start of the games in September.

Volunteer recruitment is also underway for the games, which are expected to draw more than 2,500 visitors to Kamloops, while generating an estimated $3 million in economic impact.

Kamloops has hosted the 55+ BC Games twice before in 1996 and 2013. Kamloops has also hosted the Canada 55+ Games in 2022, the Canada Summer Games in 1993, the BC Summer Games in 2006, and the BC Winter Games in 1979 and in 2018.

The city has also been named as the host for the 2028 BC Winter Games, which will run March 2 to 5 that year.
