RCMP investigating after motorcyclist killed in two vehicle crash near Chase
CHASE, B.C. — RCMP in Chase are investigating a two-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway that claimed the life of a motorcyclist Saturday (June 27) morning.
Police say they were called to respond around 11:19 a.m. after a sedan and a motorcycle crashed just west of village limits. According to Drive BC, the crash closed a 13.5 kilometre stretch of the highway between Pinantan Road and Shuswap Chase Creek Road.
“The motorcycle rider, who was in his early 60s, did not survive his injuries. Nobody else was seriously hurt,” RCMP said in a statement. “The driver of the sedan remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.”
It’s not immediately clear what caused the crash, and police say that is part of their investigation. The highway has reopened to traffic in both directions.
