UPDATE: Stump Lake-area wildfire up to 130ha; 1 property evacuated

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (2:05 p.m.): The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has issued an evacuation order for one property directly affected by the Kullagh Creek wildfire near Stump Lake.

Occupants of 8805 Kullagh Creek Road are ordered to leave immediately. More information can be found here.

An alert is in place for properties directly surrounding 8805 Kullagh Creek Road.

The TNRD has instituted a state of local emergency in the area.

According to the latest update from the BC Wildfire Service Tuesday afternoon, the fire is now measured at 130 hectares.

UPDATE (1:00 p.m.): The Kullagh Creek wildfire is measured at 80 hectares in size.

EARLIER: A wildfire on the north end of Stump Lake along Highway 5A has grown to 30 hectares in size since it was discovered Tuesday (June 16) morning. 

The BC Wildfire Service says the Kullagh Creek wildfire is burning out of control. 

A suspected cause is under investigation. There are no area restrictions or evacuation alerts as of publication. 

Helicopters and 55 firefighting personnel are responding to the fire.
