Wildfire that triggers evacuation alert in the Cariboo being held at 66 hectares
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A wildfire that led the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) to issue an evacuation alert for eight properties is now classified as being held.
In an update Sunday (May 3), the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says the Webster Creek wildfire nearly 50 kilometres northwest of Williams Lake is not expected to spread beyond its current 66 hectare perimeter.
The CRD has not lifted its evacuation alert as of Monday morning.
The Webster Creek wildfire was discovered Wednesday (April 29). The BCWS says it’s believed to have been caused by human activity.
