Village of Cache Creek receives $4.2M to replace flood-damaged Quartz Road culvert
CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Village of Cache Creek has received nearly $4.2 million in funding to replace the culvert on Quartz Road with a permanent bridge.
The link between Quartz Road and Highway 1 in Cache Creek was overwhelmed and lost amid the flooding event of 2023.
In a news release issued Tuesday (March 17), the village says it secured the funding through the provincial government’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program to construct a bridge that will be more flood resilient.
According to the village, the bridge design provides a significantly increased waterway opening compared to the culvert it replaces. It says the bridge will reduce the risk of future closures caused by extreme weather events.
