Mar 16, 2026 | 7:16 AM

KAMLOOPS — For the third year in a row, Kamloops residents are being asked to put on their rubber gloves and help clean the city’s riverbanks.

Registration is open for the City of Kamloops’ third annual Clean the Beach event taking place on Sunday, April 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Upon arrival near Sandman Centre, volunteers will be given collection materials, route maps and instructions on how to safely handle glass, sharps or hazardous waste. From there, volunteers will collect litter on specific routes along the shoreline near Overlander Park and Riverside Park.

Kamloops council approved Clean the Beach Day in 2024. The city hosts the large-scale community event in the spirit of Earth Day and to take advantage of low water levels. Volunteers have helped remove more than 2,300 lbs of material from the beaches at Overlander Park, Pioneer Park and Riverside Park over the past two years.

Residents are asked to bring closed-toed shoes, work gloves and high-visibility vests. Additionally, while it’s not required, the city is asking residents to register by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, for planning purposes.

A barbecue will be held at Riverside Park following the cleanup.
