WolfPack basketball teams fall to Cascades, prepare to play final home games of the regular season

KAMLOOPS — Both Thompson Rivers University WolfPack basketball teams fell to the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades at home Thursday (Jan. 15) night.

Chasing a Canada West playoff spot, the WolfPack women’s team lost 54-40 to the Cascades at the TCC. Second-year forward and Kamloops local Morgan Eichenberger led the WolfPack in scoring with 17 points while shooting eight-for-12. She added 11 rebounds.

On the men’s side, the WolfPack blew a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter as the Cascades came away with the 84-79 win. Third-year forward Jayden Stephens led the WolfPack in scoring with 21 points while shooting seven-for-15 and going five-for-eight from the free-throw line.

The WolfPack women’s team drop to 6-9 on the 2025-26 Canada West season. They trail the 6-7 University of Victoria Vikes for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division with five games remaining.

The WolfPack men are third in the Pacific Division with a 10-5 record with five games remaining as well. They’ve already clinched a playoff spot, they trail the 11-2 Vikes for the second seed and the right to host the play-in round and quarter-finals.

Both WolfPack basketball teams play their final home games of the regular season Saturday (Jan. 17) when they welcome the UBC Thunderbirds to the Tournament Capital Centre. The women will tip off at 4:00 p.m. while the men will follow suit at 6:00 p.m.
