Small fire sparks southwest of Ashcroft

ASHCROFT, B.C. — BC Wildfire Service personnel are responding to a small wildfire southwest of Ashcroft.

The fire was discovered Tuesday (July 22) near Klootchville Creek, east of Oregon Jack Park and west of the Trans Canada Highway.

According to the BCWS website, the fire is believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike. It is still listed at 0.1 hectares in size but is classified as out of control.

The fire danger rating is low-to-moderate in the Ashcroft area.
