KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE 4:30 p.m.): Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) says a grassfire that sparked along West Shuswap Road on Monday (June 16) afternoon is under control, though its not clear what sparked the blaze.
In a brief statement on Facebook, the band said crews from Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) were on scene to ensure that all hot spots were out.
KFR crews appeared to have made quick work of the fire. They were called out around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon, and by about 2:35 p.m. most of the plume of white smoke that was visible from the CFJC Today newsroom had dissipated.
This is a developing story, and more information will be provided if it’s available.
