Duo in stolen vehicle tracked by police dogs and arrested after reportedly ramming Sicamous RCMP cruiser
SICAMOUS, B.C. — Two people were arrested after a Sicamous RCMP officer found a suspected stolen vehicle at a local gas station.
RCMP say the officer spotted the vehicle at around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (June 11). When attempting a traffic stop, police say the driver reportedly rammed the police vehicle and sped away.
In a news release issued Thursday (June 12), RCMP say the officer wasn’t injured, and neighbouring detachments responded as well as air services, BC Highway Patrol, police dog services and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team.
The vehicle was eventually found travelling south on Highway 97A near Grindrod. RCMP say the vehicle was stopped with a spike belt, and the two occupants were tracked by police dogs and found nearby.
