CACHE CREEK, B.C. — Former Cache Creek councillor Wendy Coomber has been elected as mayor of the village.

Coomber, who served on Cache Creek council between 2016 and 2022 – and was third in the 2022 mayoral race – finished with 219 votes on Saturday (Oct. 17).

Former two-term councillor Annette Pittman, who was fourth in the 2022 mayoral race, was runner-up this year with 102 votes.

Incumbent John Ranta, who in May said he would not seek re-election but later changed his mind, was in a distant third place with 74 votes. First elected in 1990, Ranta has been mayor of Cache Creek for 32 of the last 36 years. He lost to Santo Talarico in 2018 but returned as mayor four years later in 2022
