Kamloops Centre MLA Milobar rejoins BC Conservatives

That changed on Tuesday (Sept. 22) as Milobar rejoined the BC Conservatives, along with six other now-former CentreBC MLAs. The fledgling party says it was not kept in the loop as those plans were not discussed with the CentreBC Executive Council.

“We are disappointed that Peter Milobar and others did not stand by commitments made to this party, its Executive Council, and its members,” CentreBC President Mike Wignall said, in a statement.

“We all want to remove the NDP government which has caused such harm to our province, but at the end of the day, you also have to stand for something. CentreBC remains committed to our foundational values and will not be selling out to divisive politics.”

Wignall said CentreBC “will continue as a centrist party” and that it will field as many candidates as possible in the Oct. 24 election.

“CentreBC has, from the beginning, been building a party for the 51 per cent of British Columbians that want another option to the NDP and the BC Conservatives,” Wignal added. “We hope people will stand with us, in the Centre, and help us build a province based on these values.”

Elenore Sturko, who was ejected from Conservative caucus by former leader John Rustad last year, did not return to her former party, and will carry on as leader of CentreBC.

“Like many people I have found a political home with CentreBC and I am ready to fight for the people of the Province,” Sturko said in a statement.
