KAMLOOPS — Additional evacuation orders and alerts issued related to the Big Bar Complex of wildfires in the South Cariboo have been rescinded.

Effective 4:00 p.m. Monday (Aug. 31), the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) downgraded an evacuation order for Blackdome Mine, 9320 Empire Valley Big Bar Rd. and 7633, 7780 and 8410 Watson Bar Rd. Residents in those properties were forced to evacuate due to the French Bar Creek wildfire.

Those properties, along with other areas as outlined on the attached map, are under evacuation alert. The TNRD says returning residents will be given as much advance notice as possible should another evacuation order be issued, although they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

The downgraded evacuation order came at the same time the TNRD gave the “all clear” status to nearly 214 properties that were impacted by the Pear Lake wildfire.

Further west, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) gave the “all clear status for residents in properties under an evacuation order and alert due to the Bonanza Creek wildfire.
