Logan Lake mayor urges vigilance as Guichon Creek fire risk subsides
LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — The mayor of Canada’s first FireSmart community is urging vigilance, even as the risks posed by a fire last week have passed.
The Guichon Creek Fire near Logan Lake is considered to be under control at 145.4 hectares in size. It sparked last Wednesday (July 29) and it grew quickly as firefighters tried to keep it away from the community.
The Guichon Creek fire was classified as being held on Sunday (Aug. 2) and its status was further updated to under control on Monday.
