More evacuation alerts, orders issued in the Fraser Canyon due wildfire risks

YALE, B.C. — The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) has issued an evacuation order for 40 properties in Electoral Areas A and B near Yale due to ongoing wildfire risk from the Brunswick Creek Complex.
As of Saturday (Aug. 1), the evacuation order covered one property in the area of Alexandra Lodge to Alexandra Bridge, and 39 properties from the Bridge to Sawmill Creek. People in those properties are being told to leave the area immediately, and those in need of in-person supported are being told to go to Seabird Island Band at 2895 Chowat Road in Agassiz.
The Spuzzum First Nation has also upgraded evacuation orders for all of its reserve lands in the Fraser Canyon.
The FVRD has also issued an evacuation alert in Electoral Area B from Sawmill Creek to Dogwood Valley.
