Stankoven to hold Stanley Cup celebration in August in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — CFJC Today has learned the Stanley Cup will be coming to Kamloops on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Logan Stankoven claimed hockey’s holy grail last month with the Carolina Hurricanes to become the first player from Kamloops to accomplish the feat since Mark Recchi in 2011.

Details on the celebration plans have not yet been revealed.

Stankoven told CFJC last month his ideas for the celebration include a gathering downtown, perhaps at Sandman Centre or Riverside Park, and a visit to St. Ann’s Academy.
