The BC Coroners Service said earlier this month that the province saw 522 deaths in the first four months of this year linked to drug toxicity, down 16 per cent from the same period in 2025.

April marked a decade since the province declared a public health emergency due to the overdose crisis, with more than 18,000 deaths recorded in B.C. due to drug toxicity in that time.
