SALMON ARM B.C. — The City of Salmon Arm has announced the passing of Kevin Flynn, a long-serving member of city council.

The announcement of his death comes shortly after he stepped away from his council duties to deal with a cancer diagnosis.

During a meeting on April 27, 2026, Flynn publicly announced the discovery of tumors on his pancreas, liver and lungs.

Flynn spent more than 20 years over six terms as a member of Salmon Arm’s city council, first serving from 2002 to 2011.

He placed second in the mayoral race in 2011, but was re-elected into Council Chambers in 2014, where he served the community until his passing in 2026.

“With heavy hearts, the City of Salmon Arm acknowledges the passing of Councilor Kevin Flynn,” said a public statement from Salmon Arm.

“We honour Kevin’s remarkable life, his lasting contributions to the community and send love to his cherished family and friends.”

Flynn was also the vice-chair of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), and served as CSRD Chair from 2019 to 2024.

“The Columbia Shuswap Regional District stands with the City of Salmon Arm and sadly acknowledges the passing of Director and former CSRD Board Chair Kevin Flynn,” said the CSRD
