Landslide closes Highway 1 from Revelstoke to Golden in B.C. Interior

May 29, 2026 | 9:00 AM

REVELSTOKE — A landslide has shut down Highway 1 in the British Columbia Interior.

The provincial Ministry of Transportation’s DriveBC information site says the route has been closed since about 8 p.m. Thursday between Revelstoke and Golden.

The closure is due to a landslide west of Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk in Mount Revelstoke National Park, just east of Revelstoke.

DriveBC says no detour is available.

That section of Highway 1 is among a number of roads affected by wet conditions in the Interior, with water pooling between Kamloops and Sicamous, Highway 97A north of Vernon and Highway 97 from Lake Country to Kamloops.

The River Forecast centre has issued flood watches and high streamflow advisories covering a large portion of central and southeastern B.C., as forecasts warn of heavy rain and warming temperatures accelerating snowmelt.
