KAMLOOPS — RCMP are releasing more details about a horrific crash that killed a Kamloops motorcyclist on the North Shore Monday night (May 25).

Police say the incident happened just before 10:50 p.m. at the corner of 12th Street and Tranquille Road.

A Mountie on patrol came across the collision between the motorcyclist and a pickup truck.

First responders rushed to the scene to provide assistance but the rider – a 29-year-old Kamloops man – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 41-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene to speak to investigators. BC Emergency Health Services sent three ambulances to the scene, with paramedics providing care to one patient.

No charges have been laid as of Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a stark and tragic reminder of the vulnerability of motorcyclists on our roadways,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley. “Sadly, incidents like this are all too common, and motorists are urged to be alert to motorcyclists.”

Investigators are still trying to piece together the sequence of events that led to the collision. If you have any further information, including dashcam or security video, you are asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2026-16398.
