KAMLOOPS — A home in the 200-block of Columbia Street remains blocked off Wednesday as investigators hunt for clues in Kamloops’ third homicide of the year.

Police confirmed one person was shot to death early Tuesday morning.

Officials have confirmed the case is being investigated as a homicide with investigators also believing the attack to be targeted.

“Kamloops RCMP is working hard to investigate this incident and continue to pursue all investigational avenues to locate and identify the individuals involved,” said spokesperson Cpl. Brett Urano of RCMP E-Division.

This marks the city’s third homicide this years after incidents previously on January 5 and March 11, with charges not having been laid in any of the city’s 2026 homicides.

“It’s a really scary thing to have happen probably less than 20 meters from where your head was laying in bed,” neighbour Samuel Hughes told CFJC Today.

“Never in my life did I think it would be that someone was shot,” added Hughes. “We went to bed early that night – of all nights – and didn’t hear anything and our neighbor didn’t hear anything either and he was up later.”

No further information has been supplied by the police as they contact the victim’s family.

They’re asking anyone with information or video from the 200-block of Columbia between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. Tuesday to call the Kamloops RCMP detachment.
