Homicide investigation underway after targeted shooting on Columbia Street in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — RCMP in Kamloops are investigating a homicide in the 200-block of Columbia Street, where there has been a police presence for much of the day Tuesday (May 5).


In a statement, Kamloops RCMP say they responded to a report of a shooting early this morning, and have since confirmed the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

“Evidence currently available to investigators is indicative of a targeted incident,” the RCMP statement released just after 1:15 p.m. said. “No additional details are being released at this time, as police continue to investigate and communicate with the victim’s family.”

Police did confirm to CFJC Today that there is a single victim.

Police are asking people who may have information to reach out and speak to investigators. People who were in the 200-block of Columbia Street between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, or those with video of the area during that time are also asked to reach out.

People are asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2026-13670.
