Cache Creek receives $2.7M in provincial funding for emergency lift station
CACHE CREEK, B.C. — For the second time in as many months, the Village of Cache Creek is receiving an influx of provincial funding for a disaster-related project.
The B.C. government announced $2.7 million will go toward the construction of an emergency lift station on Parke Road in Cache Creek.
“This funding for a new sanitary lift station will allow the Village of Cache Creek to significantly enhance the resilience of our sanitary system against flood-related failures,” said Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta. “By bypassing the high-risk sewer crossing at the Bonaparte River, we will protect critical infrastructure during high-flow events and safeguard the health and well-being of our residents for years to come.”
The funding announced Thursday (April 30) is part of $18 million from the province’s Disaster Resilience and Innovation Funding program that’s meant to help local governments and First Nations withstand and adapt to natural and climate-caused hazards, such as drought, earthquakes, extreme temperatures, floods and landslides.
