Billie Eilish Eyes Acting Debut In Sarah Polley’s ‘The Bell Jar’ Adaptation
Billie Eilish is in discussions to make her feature film acting debut starring in Oscar-winner Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel The Bell Jar. Polley will also write the screenplay. The semi-autobiographical novel follows 19-year-old Esther Greenwood, an English major experiencing severe depression during a magazine internship and afterward. The book has become an important American feminist text. This marks Polley’s first project since her 2022 Best Picture nominee Women Talking, for which she won Best Adapted Screenplay. Eilish, who has won two Best Original Song Oscars for “What Was I Made For?” (Barbie) and “No Time To Die,” has only limited acting experience from a small role in Prime Video’s Swarm and hosting Saturday Night Live. She is also co-directing a concert documentary with James Cameron.
