Shia LaBeouf Arrested Again In New Orleans, Hit With Additional Battery Charge
Shia LaBeouf surrendered to the Orleans Parish jail on Saturday after police issued a new warrant for an additional misdemeanor simple battery charge. The 39-year-old actor was initially arrested February 17th during a Mardi Gras altercation at a bar, where authorities say he fought with two men and used homophobic slurs. LaBeouf allegedly punched one bartender multiple times and struck another in the face. His attorney criticized the new arrest, stating “No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanor incident.”
In a recent YouTube interview, LaBeouf accepted responsibility for his latest criminal actions, saying “It’s not nice to hurt people ever. People got hurt. I got to deal with that.” He attributed his behavior to a “small man complex” involving “anger and ego” rather than drinking problems. He added “I am wrong for touching anyone, ever.” However, when asked what sparked his anger, LaBeouf answered, “I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me. I’m standing by myself, and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry if that’s homophobic. Then I’m that.”
