Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ Reboot Gets Hulu Pilot Order, With Danielle Deadwyler To Star
Hulu has officially ordered a pilot for Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot, with Danielle Deadwyler cast in one lead role. The pilot follows “two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents” who form an unlikely partnership investigating unexplained phenomena cases. Coogler will write, direct, and executive produce along with original series creator Chris Carter. This marks the first complete reboot of the beloved sci-fi series, which originally ran nine seasons before Fox’s 2016-2018 revival with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. Neither original star is attached to Coogler’s version. “My mom means the world to me…so this is a big one for me,” Coogler told Variety, noting his mother’s enthusiasm after reading his scripts. Deadwyler, known for Till and The Harder They Fall, joins the project as Coogler promotes his latest hit film, Sinners, which earned a record 16 Oscar nominations.
