Blazers’ Geras wins gold at 2025 World U-17 Challenge

TRURO, NS — Kamloops Blazers defenceman Joaquin Geras is returning to the Tournament Capital a champion.

Geras won gold with Team Canada Red at the 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Truno, Nova Scotia. Canada Red beat Canada White 6-3 in the all-Canadian final on Saturday (Nov. 8).

The 16-year-old was held pointless in five games at the tournament. He also had two penalty minutes.

A second round pick (26th overall) of the Blazers in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, Geras has three assists in 14 WHL games this season.

Geras is expected to return to the lineup when the Blazers host the Eastern Conference-leading Edmonton Oil Kings in a Remembrance Day matinee this afternoon.

Puck drop at Sandman Centre is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

The Blazers are then scheduled to play the Cougars in Prince George on Friday (Nov. 14) before returning home to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes the next evening.
