UPDATE: Highway 1 south of Lytton reopens with single lane of alternating traffic

LYTTON, B.C. — (UPDATE 12:30 p.m.): DriveBC says Highway 1 has reopened with a single lane of alternating traffic.

Another update is expected to come at 1:00 p.m.

ORIGINAL — A stretch of Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon is closed due to a semi-truck on fire.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle fire on Highway 1 at Kanaka Bar south of Lytton at around 10:30 a.m. Friday (July 25).

Video posted to social media shortly before 10:00 a.m. shows a semi-truck on its side in a ditch. Another video posted moments later shows flames and thick, black smoke billowing from the truck.

Another update on the highway’s status is due at 12:00 p.m.
