Safety and prevention tips offered during National Drowning Prevention Week
KAMLOOPS — Lifeguarding work helped B.C. Injury Research and Prevention Unit investigator Ian Pike pay his way through undergraduate school and it sounds like genuine zeal in his voice when he encourages recreation on the water.
“Go and have fun, but recognize that there is some risk so you can come home safely and do it again next week,” said Pike, professor emeritus of pediatrics in the faculty of medicine at UBC.
National Drowning Prevention Week takes place each year in the third week of July.
