Severe thunderstorm watch issued for South Thompson, Shuswap and 100 Mile areas

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the South Thompson, Shuswap and 100 Mile areas.

The weather alert was issued just after 11:00 a.m. Sunday (July 13).

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

In addition to the threat of strong winds, heavy downpours can increase the risk of localized flooding, landslides and debris flows. The public is encouraged be aware near areas of past wildfire activity.
