KAMLOOPS — A two-year investigation into a North Shore shooting death has resulted in a murder charge.

In a news release issued Wednesday (May 28), Kamloops RCMP say Austin Alexander Neil Eyres is facing a single count of second degree murder in the death of Chaneille Satow.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on May 21, 2023, RCMP were called to a home in the 800-block of Valhalla Drive for the report of a woman who had been shot. Satow was rushed to hospital for treatment but died five days later.

Over the next two years, RCMP say investigators doggedly worked the case.

“This investigation was a priority for the Kamloops Serious Crime Unit who worked diligently to advance the case for the past two years and present it to Crown Counsel for charge assessment,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley in the release. “This charge is the culmination of a thorough investigation and the resources that were allocated to it.”

Eyres is already in custody on another matter.

Last month, police surrounded the same home where the shooting victim was found. It’s not known if that police response was related to the homicide investigation.
