Trial for Kamloops lawyer accused of murder to begin Monday
KAMLOOPS — The first-degree murder trial of Kamloops lawyer Rogelio “Butch” Bagabuyo is scheduled to start Monday (April 14) morning at the Kamloops Law Courts.
Bagabuyo was charged in connection with the death of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) lecturer Mohd Abdullah, who was reported missing on March 11, 2022. Abdullah’s body was discovered in a van in a Dufferin cul-de-sac six days later.
Bagabuyo was arrested in March 2022 and charged with committing an indignity to a dead body. That charge was later upgraded to first-degree murder in May 2023.
The details about the allegations against Bagabuyo are protected by a court-ordered publication ban. He has been free on bail since the summer of 2023.
