KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers are scheduled to pick twice in the first round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft next month.

Barring any trades, they will pick 11th and 14th overall in the 23 team draft. The Blazers acquired the 11th overall pick from the Vancouver Giants in the Connor Levis trade and the 14th overall pick from the Saskatoon Blades in the Fraser Minten trade.

The Everett Silvertips will pick 5th overall using the Blazers’ original pick that they acquired in the Olen Zellweger/Ryan Hofer trade.

The Regina Pats will pick first overall after they won the lottery and moved up from second place. The Edmonton Oil Kings, who had the best odds of winning the lottery, will pick second, followed by the Kelowna Rockets and the expansion Penticton Vees, who will pick fourth overall.

Players born in 2010 who live in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible for the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

The Blazers will also pick 15th and 33rd overall in the two round 2025 WHL U.S. Priority Draft. While they’ve picked ten players over the five previous iterations of this draft, they have only signed one player – Eli Tverdovsky – to a WHL contract.

Players born in 2010 are eligible for the 2025 WHL U.S. Priority Draft if they have lived in one of the U.S. states listed above for at least two consecutive hockey seasons prior to their draft year. If they moved to the U.S. from within WHL territory, they only need to have played one complete season to be eligible.

The first round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 4:00 p.m. The 2025 WHL U.S. Priority Draft will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, with the rest of the WHL Prospects Draft to follow after.

Players not selected in the U.S. Priority Draft can still be picked in the WHL Prospects Draft on May 8.
