CALGARY — Kamloops native Johnny Hicks has been named WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week for the week ending Feb. 9.

The Victoria Royals netminder won both of his games last week, and posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

Hicks, a former Merritt Centennial, stopped 31 of 33 shots as the Royals beat the Kelowna Rockets 5-2 on Wednesday (Feb. 5). He followed that up with a 23-save performance Friday night, as the Royals blew out the Tri-City Americans 9-1.

The 19-year-old Hicks has a 4-2 record with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in six career WHL games. He recorded his first WHL win against his hometown Blazers on Jan. 17.
