Man arrested, accused of assaulting woman with a rock in downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man was arrested in Kamloops Wednesday (Oct. 9), accused of assaulting a woman with a rock.

Kamloops RCMP say officers were called to a business on the 600-block of Seymour Street in the city’s downtown at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 9) where a woman was found with an obvious head injury.

“According to the investigation so far, the victim was allegedly assaulted with a rock, then made her way from Victoria Street to a business on Seymour Street to request medical assistance,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says. “She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

In a news release issued Thursday morning, RCMP say the suspect was found and arrested on Fifth Avenue. He was released with a court date and conditions.
