LAS VEGAS — Kamloops Blazer defenseman Harrison Brunicke has been selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 2024 NHL draft.
Brunicke was the 44nd overall selection and the first Blazers off the board in Vegas. Brunicke, born in Johannesburg, hopes to become the first skater in NHL history from South Africa to play in the league. The only other previous South Africian was goaltender Olaf Kolzig.
Last season Brunicke put up 21 points (10G, 11A) in 49 games with Kamloops.
