Collision on Highway 5 outside of Clearwater kills two people: BC Highway Patrol

CLEARWATER, B.C. — Two people are dead following the vehicle incident that snarled traffic on the Yellowhead Highway near Clearwater Tuesday (April 23).
In an email to CFJC Today Wednesday morning, BC Highway Patrol states its officers and Clearwater RCMP were told of a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a CN truck on Highway 5 at Cliff Road, approximately three kilometres east of Clearwater, at around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday.
The two trucks hit head on and became engulfed in flames after a tank exploded on the truck.
“The passenger of the semi-truck and the driver of the CN truck both tragically passed away,” Cpl. Melissa Jongema says. “The driver of the semi-truck and the passenger in the CN truck survived and are in critical-but-stable condition.”
