KAMLOOPS — It’s been a little more than a year since the disappearance of a Kamloops woman turned into a homicide investigation. And police in Kamloops say her murder is still considered an active investigation.

57-year-old Jo-Anne Donovan had been found near her home in the Westsyde area of Kamloops on March 22 of 2023, about one week after she had been reported missing. After the RCMP’s initial investigation, autopsy results confirmed that Donovan was the victim of a homicide.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn told CFJC, “We can’t get into some of the specifics of what that investigation looks like in order to protect the integrity of it. But we always encourage people to reach out if they have more information about this homicide or any others that might be of interest to Kamloops RCMP.”

Thus far, no charges have been laid in relation to her death. But Mounties reiterate that tips or information from the public can still be important to an investigation.

“Sometimes I think people think as time goes by that maybe tips or information aren’t still required, and that sort of thing, but it doesn’t matter how much time has gone by. If you have information related to a homicide, don’t hesitate to call the RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000,” adds Evelyn.
