KAMLOOPS — With a rezoning application coming forward to develop the Pineridge golf course into a new housing subdivision site, the City of Kamloops is also looking to make changes to the transportation routes in the Valleyview and Dallas corridor, and potentially add two parks to those neighbourhoods.

If the rezoning for that area is approved, then there will eventually be a multi-unit residential development built at the Pineridge golf course site.

So, in the spirit of ‘two birds, one stone’, Community Planning Manager Stephen Bentley says the city of proposing road, multi-use path, and public park additions around that potential subdivision.

“There’s going to be about 450 residentials units there, and a new neighbourhood park. There’s also going to be some road network changes, including moving the Dallas Drive highway access, and adding a new multi-use pathway that long term will connect to Valleyview.”

Prior to the road or park plan approvals, the city will be hosting an information session on April 4. And the rezoning that would allow for the development of the Pineridge site will also be going to a public hearing later in May.

“The City of Kamloops is trying to get a multi-use pathway connection from Valleyview to Dallas,” says Bentley, “We’re wanting the public to know, ‘hey we are trying to move this ahead’. So we kind of do that in conjunction with development that is happening in the area.”
