TRU Wolfpack volleyball women sweep, men drop five-set marathon in Brandon

BRANDON, MB — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team gave its playoff hopes a shot in the arm with a straight-sets victory (25-17, 25-19, 25-18) over the Bobcats in Brandon Saturday (Feb. 10).

Canada West kills leader Brooklyn Olfert registered 13 kills for the WolfPack.

TRU now sits at 8-and-14 and is in a four-way tie with Calgary, Saskatchewan and Mount Royal for the final playoff spot.

On the men’s side, the WolfPack battled Brandon to five sets (22-25, 27-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11) but ended up dropping the fifth and deciding set.

Sam Flowerday amassed 25 kills for the ‘Pack.

At 10-and-12, the WolfPack are two games behind the Manitoba Bisons for the final playoff spot in the conference.

Both WolfPack teams return home next weekend to wrap up the regular season with crucial matches against the Mount Royal Cougars.
