KAMLOOPS — UPDATE 1:20 P.M.

Just before 11:30 A.M. Monday (Feb 5) morning, Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) crews responded to vehicle fire inside of a garage in Aberdeen.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a fully engulfed vehicle within the home’s two-car garage. The family was able to safely escape the home as the fire was contained to the garage and no injuries were reported by KFR.

“Crews were on scene really quick and they did a really aggressive offensive knockdown and managed to keep the fire out of the rest of the residence,” said Deputy Chief Ryan Cail.

Three crews arrived on scene, as well as routine assistance from BC Ambulance. Less than an hour after the initial call came in, most of the crews were able to vacate the scene as mop-up work was underway.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“The crews responded and you deal with it from the exterior as much as you can and then when you can make access to the inside, you go. There are well trained, equipped and prepared for an incident like this and they end up with a result as good as this. it was a good outcome,” added Cail.
