Both WolfPack basketball teams fall in University of Alberta
KAMLOOPS — Both Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack basketball teams dropped their first of two weekend games in Edmonton against the University of Alberta Golden Bears (men’s) and Pandas (women’s).
The men’s WolfPack basketball team trailed 29-16 after the first quarter and could never make it close in an 80-53 loss Friday (Feb. 2). Evan Smith led TRU in scoring off the bench with 14 points on 5-for-12 shooting.
Meantime, the women’s WolfPack basketball team was blown out 101-35. Priyanca Sundher led the WolfPack in scoring with 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting.
The men fall to 4-11 on the 2023-24 Canada West season, good for 14th in the standings and two games behind the University of Fraser Valley for a spot in the play-in portion of the playoff bracket. The women fall to 2-13 on the season after losing 11 straight, good for 15th in the standings and two games behind the University of Manitoba for a play-in spot.
