TRU drop decision to Spartans
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers WolfPack volleyball teams couldn’t secure a home victory last night (Jan. 26), when they welcomed the Trinity Western Spartans inside TCC.
The women fell 3-1 to the No. 4 Spartans. Ema Palkovicova led the way for the ‘Pack with 10 kills, three aces, four blocks and eight digs. Keira Gent added seven kills, while Libby Meldrum recorded 31 assists. This was the sixth time this season that TRU played against a team ranked in the top five in the nation. The result moves the ‘Pack to 6-12 on the season.
Meanwhile, the men also dropped the decision, losing 3-1 to the No. 9 Spartans. Matthew Hamilton and Sam Flowerday both had nine kills for TRU, while Flowerday added a trio of aces and Hamilton a pair of blocks. Middle Corbin Ockerman had seven kills on 12 attempts while also recording three blocks. With the result, the squad now moves to a record of 9-9 on the season.
The Wolfpack will now head to Abbotsford next weekend to face the Fraser Valley Cascades.
