WolfPack complete weekend sweep over Griffins

KAMLOOPS — For the second night in a row the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s and women’s volleyball team overpowered the visiting MacEwan Griffins.

The men secured a 3-0 victory, with U SPORTS Athlete of the Week Matthew Hamilton leading the way offensively with 10 kills in the contest. The squad now holds a record of 7-7, just one game back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference standings.

“Credit to the guys it’s not very often you get a 3-0, 3-0 weekend and this was a great way to start our homestand,” said head coach Pat Hennelly. “the guys were just calm, collected and got the job done when they needed.”

The women also beat the Griffins 3-0, with Brooklyn Olfert having one of her best games of her wolfPack career. The former member of the Canada West All-Rookie team finished on 16 of her 21 attacks while also picking up four service aces.

“I’m just focusing on one point at a time and going for it,” said Olfert. “It’s a great feeling to get the sweep, it’s awesome to see the whole team working together.”
