WolfPack win in emotional return to home court
KAMLOOPS – Just two days after celebrating the life of their teammmate Owyn McInnis, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over the MacEwan Griffins last night (Jan. 12) inside TCC.
The team now holds a record of 6-7, just one game behind the eighth and final playoff spot.
“Since everything happened, every practice we’ve had and every game we’ve played there has been a higher sense of purpose,” said 4th-year libero Dylan VanSpankeren. “What we went through is not easy emotionally but everyone has fought through it and stuck together and this group of guys is going to be bonded for life because of that.”
The women’s team also secured a 3-0 victory against the Griffins. It was the second time this season the squad has won a match in straight-sets. They now move to 4-9 on the season, where they are just two games out of the Canada West playoff picture.
