Three dead in Thursday morning crash near Barriere
BARRIERE, B.C. — Three people are confirmed dead after a horrific two-vehicle collision along the Yellowhead Highway in the Fish Trap area south of Barriere Thursday morning (Dec. 28).
Barriere Fire Chief Ashley Wohlgemuth confirms the three were all travelling in the same vehicle and that a dog in the vehicle also died at the scene.
In a news release, RCMP Southeast District spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy says the three were in a Toyota Corolla that collided with an oncoming Ford Sprinter van. Grandy says the driver of the Toyota was trying to pass a semi-truck at the time.
The sole occupant of the van was taken to hospital for treatment. Grandy says the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
