Arthur Hatton parents give spring Safer School Streets program a passing grade
KAMLOOPS — The majority of parents at Arthur Hatton Elementary would like to see a continuation of the Safer School Streets program.
The program closed streets to vehicle traffic before and after the school day for two weeks last spring. The absence of vehicles meant students were allowed to engage in safe, active transportation as well as activities like street hockey and sidewalk chalk art.
Parents were surveyed after the program wrapped up and those survey results were released by the City of Kamloops Monday (Dec. 18).
The survey showed 61 per cent of parents in support of the program’s continuation.
