Coquihalla Closure

RCMP: No injuries reported in Coquihalla Highway collision

UPDATE (2 p.m.): According to RCMP, this appears to be a non-injury collision, in which a small red car rear-ended a semi.

No further information has been provided; the accident remains under investigation.

UPDATE (12:45 p.m.): DriveBC says all northbound and southbound lanes are now clear and open.

UPDATE (11:30 a.m.): DriveBC says the estimated time of reopening is at 12:30 p.m.

Meantime, Highway 1 and 3 remain alternate routes. Drivers are still asked to watch for traffic control crews.

EARLIER: MERRITT, B.C. — Drivers are being told to expect major delays on the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt Thursday.

DriveBC reported of a vehicle incident on Highway 5 south of Comstock Road at around 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Traffic is closed in both directions, and vehicle recovery is underway.
