One person dead after logging truck collides with minivan south of Sicamous
SICAMOUS, B.C. — One person is dead after a collision south of Sicamous over the weekend.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Dec. 3), BC Highway Patrol says its Golden and Revelstoke detachments, along with Sicamous RCMP, responded to a collision between a logging truck and a Dodge Grand Caravan on Highway 97A near Mara Lake.
Police say its initial investigation determines the northbound logging truck crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash.
“Road conditions were reportedly very poor, however all avenues of investigation are being considered at this early stage,” Insp. Chad Badry says. “The driver of the logging truck was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.”
