Kamloops council to consider policy on recording of conversations
KAMLOOPS — In the wake of Kamloops Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson having a conversation with CAO David Trawin recorded by his wife, Kamloops council will be considering a new policy on Tuesday (Nov. 21).
In September, council directed staff to create a new policy prohibiting the recording of workplace conversations.
The policy has three simple bullet points of prohibited actions for council members.
• Recording any conversation, be it in person or over the telephone or using video technology, with any city staff member at any location with any electronic or digital recording device, unless every participant in that conversation has provided express consent;
